Four Nichols Apothecary is a small, family-run business dedicated to creating handmade home and body care products using beef tallow and other thoughtfully sourced, non-toxic ingredients. We focus on simple but traditional formulations made with care and intention.
Why do you use beef tallow in your products?
Beef tallow is a time-honored skincare ingredient rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K. It closely mimics the skin’s natural oils, making it deeply nourishing, gentle, and suitable for most skin types. We use high-quality, (locally sourced when possible) tallow that is carefully rendered for purity and effectiveness.
Where do you source your ingredients?
We prioritize locally sourced and responsibly obtained ingredients whenever possible. Our beef tallow comes from trusted grass-fed farms- local when available- and we carefully select every other ingredient to ensure it aligns with our non-toxic, clean standards.
Are your products all-natural and non-toxic?
Our candles, scent rollers, and wax melts have the option to purchase synthetic fragrances OR essential oil options. All other products are made without synthetic fragrances, parabens, phthalates, or harsh chemicals. We believe in keeping formulations simple, effective, and safe for everyday use.
Are your products safe for sensitive skin?
Many customers with sensitive skin find our products gentle and soothing due to their minimal ingredients. However, we always recommend reviewing ingredient lists and doing a small patch test before full use, especially if you have known sensitivities.
Are your products safe for children or babies?
Our unscented and gently formulated products are often chosen by families for children. However, every child’s skin is different, so we recommend consulting with a healthcare provider if you have concerns and performing a patch test before use.
Are your products tested on animals?
No. Four Nichols Apothecary is proudly cruelty-free. We never test our products on animals.
How should I store my tallow products?
Tallow products are best stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Because they are made with natural ingredients and no preservatives, proper storage helps maintain freshness and texture.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Most of our products have a shelf life of 6–12 months, depending on the formulation. Each product is made in small batches and labeled with use-by recommendations.
Do you offer local pickup or shipping?
We offer shipping and can provide local pickup options within 15 miles of Muenster, TX depending on availability. Details can be found at checkout or on our website’s shipping page.
Can I return or exchange a product?
Due to the nature of personal care products, we generally cannot accept returns once opened. If you experience an issue with your order, please contact us and we’ll do our best to make it right.
Do you make custom or bulk orders?
Yes! We’re happy to discuss custom orders including scents, carrier oils, product requests, and more! We also can assist with gift sets or bulk options for events, families, or special occasions. Please reach out through our contact page for more details.
